And we can finally breathe! You just did 8 weeks and 8 weeks of school with a single week off in between. Hard work can stop for a bit! Wrong.. Kinda.
Christmas is a great time to stop and hit pause and reset, but let's be realistic, it's an excellent time to get ahead of the curve and get some solid revision in. But you need to strike a balance between rest and revision. 3 hours a day? 1 day on 1 day off?

Let me give you 3 actionable tips you can put in place this holiday to help balance this!
Action 1: Set Realistic Daily Goals
Take the first 3 days off, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day off. Now set a realistic goal of 2 hours of revision a day. Do a maximum of 2 subjects per session and prioritise Maths, English and your main subject. During these 2 hours, take a break every 20 to 30 minutes.
Action 2: Use Active Revision Techniques
By active I mean, not just reading the textbook or your Maths book that has half the front cover hanging off. Use exam papers, use YouTube videos, use Maths Genie, use quizzes. This will make revision more engaging, useful and sticky.
Action 3: Prioritise Rest and Fun
It's time off for a reason. We know we've got lots to do and lots to work towards. But if you burn yourself here, the last slog to the exams is gonna be hard. One Christmas when I was at uni, I revised 15 hour days for 3 weeks straight. By the time I got to January I was toast. This holiday should be rest and fun, scatter with a bit of revision.
The key to a succesful Christmas in Year 11 is balance. Go see family and friends. Eat too much chocolate (if you didn't put on 20 stone, did you even Christmas properly?). So this is the time to focus on quality of revision and not quantity. Doing more is ALWAYS better. But ONLY if the quality is there. Use Christmas to get the quality of your revision secure and then scale up from there.
